Pic (sorry - very our of focus) is of Japanese comedian and ultra-marathon runner Kanpei-san, from the party this evening at Yoshimoto to send Kanpei-san on his way. Actually he doesn’t start til Dec 17th. Then, he will set off from Osaka, and run. And run, and run and run. Right around the world. Yup. Right around the world. In one go. Non-stop. (…by yacht over the oceans…)
It will take, what, maybe 2.5 years? 3 years???
Oh, and btw Kanpei-san will turn a sprightly 60-years-old next year.
He should reach Los Angeles sometime late Feb next year, then run right across the USA to New York for the first long stretch - approx. 50 kms a day. So - all you marathon runners out there - get ready to cheer Kanpei on as he comes through your neighborhood!!! And anyone who wants to run along for a while, get in touch!!
